Day One: Origami Jewellery Boxes

Task: Make origami jewellery boxes to hold the beaded jewellery for Pathway’s Women’s Crisis Centre and medium-term housing as a gift for women who have experienced some difficult periods in their life and who will be blessed by the kindness and generosity shown through receiving a gift from people they have never met.

The students in the Origami Jewellery Boxes team are literally folding paper. Although it is hard to get the hang of initially, it is worthwhile because they’re helping others whilst having fun. These jewellery boxes will be sent overseas to women in crisis. It’s a small group, only eight students and all boys but their work is amazing.

Hard at work.
From this ....

... to this ...

... to this!

These students chose to make jewellery boxes for this cause because they wanted to be nice, to help others, to feel as if they had been a help and to build on their teamwork skills.

The team thought that this activity was fun to do because they were able to work with friends, make different designs and use their minds to make these amazing creations.

The origami jewellery boxes are artistic and creative work for the students in this group. The colourful boxes, when finished, give the students who made them a great sense of achievement because they can see what they have created and how it will help others.
