Noah's Ark

Task: Students in this group will travel to Noah’s Ark Preschool in Riverstone and help to sort through boxes of toys to identify any repairs required, as well as cleaning, labelling and packing the toys. Noah's Ark Preschool has a 15 year history offering quality early childhood education in a friendly, caring and Christian environment. They provide a high quality Christian, community-based, early childhood service - the primary goal of which is to honour the God-given uniqueness of each child, in order to assist them to develop to their fullest potential. The preschool is currently operating out of Riverstone Uniting Church after a roof fire damaged their premises.

For the past two days the students have been attending Noah’s Ark Preschool in Riverstone. Each student has thoroughly enjoyed the experience of being able to play with the students, colour in with them, help in the garden and assist with making Christmas decorations and making hampers to bless the local community.

The students in this group travel to Noah’s Ark Preschool each morning to help with classes and to engage with the kids. I spoke with Victoria, Monique and Claire and they said that they love helping out at the preschool and have made some little friends amongst the children there.

Incandescence

Task:Make hand-poured soy-wax scented candles and package these attractively, ready for sale at a Senior School Mothers’ Day Stall. A range of different fragrance oils will be used to create these beautifully scented candles and packaging will include decorative tags, cellophane, strings and ribbons.

The Parents and Friends Association supports the activities of the College. Student learning is enhanced when parents and the school work together, with the shared goal of achieving the best outcomes for all students. In close consultation with the Principal, the P&F continue to raise money to provide additional resources and enhancements to the College. Their most significant fundraiser is the Hills Harvest a biennial fair with craft stalls, rides, entertainment and food.

Feeding Frenzy

Helping out the Cookies for Christmas group by packaging some of the hundreds of cookies made.

Mmmm.  Good enough to eat.

Looks like a Feeding Frenzy!

Ice cream sundae.  Make mine chocolate please.

Here to help.

Task: Prepare and sell treats for the other students to purchase at lunch time during the Service Learning Days.  The money raised from selling the treats will be donated to Hawkesbury Helping Hands to help people in need in our local area. Hawkesbury’s Helping Hands  is a not for profit charity which supplies hot meals, food hampers and emergency hampers to the homeless, less fortunate and those who just need a hand to get through a tough stage in their life.

Feeding Frenzy was hard at work on Tuesday as they were getting ready to sell ice cream sundaes at lunch to raise funds for Hawkesbury Helping Hands. During periods three and four they were also folding paper and packing cookies to help the Cookies for Christmas group.

As we walked in smiles filled the room, as everyone was very happy about the work they were doing to help others. We interviewed Tara and Daria and they said it felt really great to be able to raise funds to help the Hawkesbury Helping Hands organisation.  They said: “This is a great way to spread joy and it’s a kind way to spread happiness”.

Hawkesbury Helping Hands help homeless and less fortunate people and Feeding Frenzy joined with Cookies for Christmas to make the best use of their time during our Service Days.
