Task: Visit local retirement homes,
spend time with and entertain the older generation. Students in this group will
undertake some light gardening and share in some morning or afternoon tea,
engage in conversation and play some board games with their earlier audience.
Bridging
the Gap are a group that visit Retirement Villages to bring company to the elderly
that otherwise would only be visited by family and friends a couple of times a
year.
Mrs. Delevaux informed us of a statistic that truly saddened us - on
average, a resident at a retirement home will only have one visitor per month.
This group strives to change that by visiting several retirement homes over the three Service Days. Today they
plan on visiting residents that are more able. This group is truly making a
difference to the lives of the residents.
