Day One: Movers and Shakers

Task: Help the ground staff of the College get the new buildings ready for next year by moving furniture up to J-Block and setting up the spaces. Other activities may include doing odd-jobs to help the ground staff at the College prepare for the end of year events.

The students in the Movers and Shakers service team have a physically draining job. They have to take the new furniture from Mr Binney’s workshop to the new J-Block building.  The group worked through the heat of the day with lots of heavy lifting even though it was tiring.  Being in this particular group required a lot of teamwork and stamina.

The students in this group chose this activity because they could work with their friends in the outdoors without being confined indoors for the whole of service week. Mr Binney said “They all wanted to work with me,’ the Legend’.”

This outdoors activity keeps you on your feet, constantly on the go. However tiring, all members of the group can agree that it was worth it in the end. There were only boys in the group of about ten.

Whilst observing the group we found that after a day of hard work they were very tired in their responses.
